Aspen, CO – The X-Games take on a best hit contest for skiing is their new "Highest Air" event in the pipe which attracted all of the top pipe riders following the Superpipe finals. American Peter Olenick scored the highest hit of the 30 minute jam sesion. His flatspin 5 was one inch shy of 25 ft above the pipe deck. Canadian Justin Dorey boosted a massive 23ft 9incher for 2nd, followed by Superpipe winner Kevin Rolland of France at 23ft 4in.
“This feels awesome,” Olenick said. “I am stoked, I came out with vengeance after the Superpipe and I think I could have even gone bigger.”
“I had a lot more adrenaline for this one than SuperPipe,” Dorey said. “It was less technical and more Peter Olenick orbiting high above the pipe. Photo: Nate Abbott focused on using power and push. It was a lot of fun and that was the biggest that I have ever gone.”
