Montreal, QC, August 15th 2011 - The Nike 6.0 IF3 International Freeski Film Festival presented by, The North Face, Salomon and Oberson is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the largest international gathering of freeskiing's top filmmakers and athletes making IF3 the ultimate celebration in skiing! The Nike 6.0 IF3 2011 will take place from Thursday September 15th - Sunday September 18th in the heart of Montreal at the Quartier des spectacles.
Recently included in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, freeskiing has developed into one of the most exciting disciplines in action sports. Since its inception, IF3 has been providing an exciting platform for skiing’s top filmmakers to showcase their latest films, while promoting the athletes and culture that surrounds freeskiing.
Each winter, filmmakers and skiers team up to document the evolution of freeskiing, which allows the latest films from the most prolific filmmakers in the ski industry to be premiered at the Festival. Every year, they flock to Montreal to present their masterpieces to the world. This year we are proud to present 38 films over the course of the four day festival, a growth of 50% compared to 2010.
For the fifth anniversary edition, IF3 has partnered with Nike 6.0 and the festival has become the Nike 6.0 IF3 2011. Working with such an amazing partner is an absolute privilege. IF3 is thrilled to have support from additional partners; The North Face, Salomon, Oberson, Coors Light, Red Bull, Scion, Recco, Jay Peak and Newschoolers who make up our primary sponsors and are essential to ensuring a successful festival.
To celebrate the fifth IF3 edition in style, we have expanded the Festival to include an additional day of screenings on Sunday September 18th in addition to the free outdoor movie screening presented by The North Face at the Quartier des spectacles on Thursday September 15th, plus concerts and themed parties presented by Red Bull, the IF3 Palms Awards and the Oberson Sports Athlete Autograph Session @ Quartier Dix30 where biggest ski stars in the world will be in attendance!
